Jury Duty Scam February 18, 2020

The Sheriff's Office has received reports from the 12th Judicial District Jury Commissioner of a recent phone scam. 

Several Saguache County residents have received a calls from an unknown person who indicated that he was with the Sheriff's Office and that there was an Arrest Warrant for the individual for not showing up for Jury Duty. 

The person was told that the bond was $925.00 and that the person needed to pay the amount in the form of a cashiers check. The caller gave a phone number to confirm the Warrant and it was eventually routed to the Conejos County Sheriff's Office. 

The Jury Commissioner and the Saguache County along with the Conejos County Sheriff's Office wants citizens to know that this is a scam. DO NOT pay/send any money! 

if the Jury Commissioner requires your presence in Court, you will receive a Jury Notice by mail or will be served personally by a Sheriff's Deputy.

Saguache County will be accepting applications for a County Land Use Administrator until Friday, February 28, 2020. This position manages, coordinates, and supervises all aspects of the Land Use Department in relations to zoning and subdivision regulations and other land uses within the County to ensure the prompt and efficient operation of the office.  All aspects of the position are completed with the approval of and in conjunction with the Board of County Commissioners.  This position is appointed and supervised by the three-member Board of County Commissioners.  Salary range is set at $50,000 and up depending on experience, with benefits.  A copy of the job description and qualifications may be obtained from Human Resource Personnel Director, April Quintana or may be obtained from Administration office or www.saguachecounty.net. The Saguache County Board of Commissioners will be taking Grant Applications for Saguache County Sales Tax Grants until 3:00PM, Friday, February 14, 2020.

To be eligible grant applications must be for either:  Emergency Services/Public Health and Safety; Youth and Senior programs, projects, or organizations; or Renewable Energy projects/Business Opportunities and Job Creation.
