Dear Saguache County Community Members,
We amended our Public Health Order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are pleased by the compliance from the residents who are committed to do all they can to slow the spread of this disease.
I have been informed there are members of our community who feel that this amendment does not go far enough. I want you to know that I hear your concerns. The precautions laid out in this most recent order have been made in consultation with experts in the field of epidemiology and public health, and have taken into account our county’s specific needs. At this time, we are not planning to issue another amendment. The amended Public Health Order should be considered a minimum level of precaution. We encourage all individuals and families who feel they need to take extra precautions above and beyond the level of what is in our amended order to do so.
As I am writing this letter, I am aware that Governor Polis has issued additional statewide restrictions. Please stay up to date with what is happening at the State level as well as the County level, and continue to comply with whatever the tightest restrictions are.
It is a privilege to serve this county, and I appreciate the good support that you have given so far to our health care providers and first responders who continue to work so hard, and the support that you have given me and the rest of our Saguache County local government. We are truly doing our best with our county’s well-being in mind.
Lynette Grant RN
Saguache County Public Health Director
